PLAVAC MALI, DALMATIA, CROATIA

The most important authentic wine sort in Croatia. Superb sorts comes from positions of Dingač and Postup on the peninsula Peljesac, on the south side of the island Hvar, as well as on good positions of Korcula, Brac and Vis vineyards.
DNA analysis has proven that grape sorts Primitivo and Zinfandel are genetic relatives to Plavac Mali, and that Plavac Mali arose from spontaneous crossing of varieties Crljenak and Dobričić.
Smell, a prominent and long-lasting and most reveals typical varietal aromas of fruit,
Mediterranean herbs and spices. Particularly distinct are aromas of plums and figs, almond, sage and thyme.
